Richard A. Wilson
The Judi and Gary Gladstein Distinguished Chair in Human Rights
Professor of Anthropology
Richard Wilson first became interested in human rights as an 18-year-old when he went to Guatemala to study Spanish and learned about the genocide of the Mayan population. He later studied the process of truth and reconciliation in South Africa . Now he is writing a book about international criminal tribunals – how they deal with conflict and its wider political and social context. His research focuses on why societies become violent, how we can address that, and how a society can rebuild and repair itself.
