Margaret Rubega

Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

Margaret Rubega, associate professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the Connecticut state ornithologist, is studying how to help chimney swifts replace their breeding habitat, which is fast disappearing.  In this broadcast of the Field Notes program on the National Public Radio station WFCR (link below), she describes the chimney swift, flying through the air at 35 miles per hour and catching insects the size of a pinhead, and its need for a new place to nest.
