Faculty Snapshot

Mark Overmyer-Velazquez

Associate Professor of History
Director of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies

Mark Overmyer-Velazquez is interested in the importance of “peripheral” people and places – how people on the peripheries of society move to center stage in national debates. His own biography crosses many cultures, and his work in Mexico looks at the clash between tradition and modernity and the intersection of U.S. and Latin American history. In this podcast he talks about his research and experiences.
