Michael P. Lynch
Professor of Philosophy
Michael Lynch has written or edited several books about truth, including True to Life , Truth in Context , Truth and Realism , and The Nature of Truth: Classic and Contemporary Perspectives .
“Many philosophers have held that truth has a single essence, even while they disagreed over what that essence is,” he has written. Current researchers reject those traditional theories, holding instead that truth has no nature.
Lynch rejects that view, as well, and in 2009 he will devote a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) fellowship to writing a book, to be published by Oxford University Press, on an alternative theory of truth.
In this podcast, he talks about his 2004 book, True to Life .
