Senjie Lin

Professor of Marine Sciences

Senjie Lin’s research focus is molecular ecology, including the potential enhancement of microalgae for biofuel and the function and genomics of phytoplankton, microscopic marine plants. In a current project funded by the National Science Foundation, he leads research on the genetic make-up of dinoflagellates, a type of phytoplankton that can produce toxic red tides. His research is the subject of an exhibit at the Mystic Aquarium, “DNA, Red Tide and the Sea.”
